Pickerel Lake Outfitters
A Canada fly-in fishing trip for Walleye, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass or Lake Trout at one of our Northwest Ontario fly-in fishing outpost cabins will leave you with great memories that will last a lifetime.

The fly-in outpost cabins are deluxe and are all on secluded lakes in Northwest Ontario. Our guests fly in to the outpost lakes, as part of the English River system, from the seaplane base in downtown Kenora.

We also offer Hunters the option of hunting for Black Bear, Whitetail Deer, Ducks, Geese or Grouse while at our main lodge on Pickerel Lake. Hunt for black bear, whitetail deer, ducks, geese or grouse.

We are minutes north of Lake of the Woods, on the eastern limit of the North American central flyway which makes for great bird and waterfowl hunting. Our area is dotted with lakes, rivers and marshes.

The outpost cabins have amenities you wouldn't ordinarily expect from a fly-in fishing experience.

All outpost lodges have amenities you wouldn't ordinarily expect: * propane refrigerators and stoves, * propane grills, * fish cookers, and * solar-powered hot / cold running water with showers. All feature cathedral ceilings with skylights.

THE WOLVES' DEN on Norse Lake is a beautiful deluxe outpost cabin that can accommodate six adults
with a panoramic view - and the only cabin on the lake.

Norse Lake
Norse Lake cabin interior (#9)          pike fishing on Norse Lake (#10)
Norse Lake is a prime example of a remote Ontario Canada fly-in only wilderness lake. Protected by a high picturesque landscape, Norse Lake remains calm even on the windier days. Excellent fishing consists of Walleye, Northern Pike, and Smallmouth Bass. Walleye average 1 - 3 lbs. with 4 - 10 pound trophies caught every season. Smallmouth Bass population reaches into the 5 pound class. In addition to Norse Lake, there is a portage trail along a rapids leading into Little Norse Lake, which also harbors great walleye, northern, and bass fishing. All you carry is your fishing gear, as we have a boat and motor on the other side for your use.

The Wolves' Den fly-in outpost is a new, 2 bedroom deluxe cabin located on the west end of Norse Lake. This cabin has complete kitchen facilities with hot and cold running water, hot showers, a cathedral ceiling with skylights in the living area and a large screened-in porch. A wraparound deck allows guests a two-mile view of their outpost vacation lake.

Tree Lined Lake

Picture a cool, gin clear Canadian outpost lake with lots of fighting trophy Smallmouth Bass and Northern Pike and you've got Treelined Lake. Here, the Smallmouth Bass average 17 - 18 inches (2 - 3 pounds) on every catch, with 4 - 5 pound fish (20 - 22 inches) taken regularly. Northern Pike average 5 - 7 pounds, with 15 - 20 pounders caught every season. This fly-in lake is remarkably clear, and with Polarized glasses you'll see them close to the shoreline. You'll be glad you brought your camera to capture the action of multiple follow-ups on every cast. Wildlife is abundant. It is very possible to see moose feeding along the shoreline during twilight hours. Eagles nest right across the bay from your outpost cabin. And of course, you can always expect to hear the call of the Canadian Loon to break the silence of the evening - truly a beautiful and unspoiled Canadian fly-in outpost fishing adventure.

Black Wolf Lodge is a deluxe two bedroom outpost cabin with cathedral ceiling, skylights, large screened-in porch with wrap-around deck, complete kitchen facilities, hot and cold running water, and hot showers. This fly-in only lodge provides comfortable accommodations for up to eight adults.

POPULUS LAKE (Betula Lake - John Lake) ideal for smaller groups or couples.
Fish walleye, northern pike and lake trout.
7-DAY PACKAGE, SATURDAY TO SATURDAY $1,050.00 PER PERSON

Populus Lake Outpost offers over twelve miles of water to fish and explore. The lake system consists of numerous channels and bays with structure consisting of rock outcrops, points and weed beds (with the deepest part of the lake being over 150 feet). The lake is surrounded by high picturesque terrain that allows anglers to fish even on the windiest days. This lake is situated in a very remote area set aside from all logging activity. It is a true Canadian Fly-in Outpost Wilderness vacation.

Canada Fly-in Fishing (#13)
Great fishing experiences on Populus lake begin right from the outpost cabin. You can fish the weed beds and points for Walleye and Northern Pike or troll and jig the depths for Lake Trout. The north end of this fly-in lake also offers the angler the opportunity to hook onto a Muskie. Walleyes run from two to six pounds with trophies caught every season. Catches of Lake Trout in May and June are common with fish averaging five to ten pounds, and trophies as large as twenty-five pounds. Northern Pike are eagerly waiting in the weeds or off the rock points for your jigs, spoons or crank baits. Northern Pike have been caught as large as twenty five pounds in this water system with the average being five to ten pounds.

This flowage system also offers two portage lakes without having to walk or get out of your boat. Betula Lake offers the angler opportunities to catch more Walleye, Northern Pike and Lake Trout. The lake offers similar structure with over five miles of water to fish. John Lake is a small lake located down a scenic river system. This lake is dark water and is teeming with Walleye and Northern Pike.

BROWN BEAR LAKE OUTPOST,  Four Species of Fish!
Moose Point Lodge (Only Outpost Cabin on the Lake)
Trophy Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Lake Trout and Walleye

The Brown Bear Lake system is considered to be one of the best fly-in trophy Smallmouth Bass lakes in the area. The Smallmouth Bass in this lake average 2 to 3 pounds. Four pound fish are common, and trophy wall-hangers (5 to 6 lbs.) are produced every season. Now you would think that would be enough to keep you busy, but we have got more. Portages! Three of them! The first is a 4 minute walk from Brown Bear Lake to the back waters of Midway Lake where three boats and motors are waiting for you. You carry only your fishing rod, and maybe your shorelunch for the day. By boat, you can travel from Midway Lake West to Midway Lake East through a scenic remote waterway about 5 miles long. Both lakes are full of Smallies and fast action Pike. Many of our guests report moose sightings in this area. Now if you are not too tired, we have another portage (4 minute walk) from Midway Lake to Beauty Lake. Beauty Lake is our fighting Lake Trout destination, along with some more of the nicest Smallmouth Bass that you will ever see. From here we have one more portage for the devoted Walleye Fisherman. The trail is located at the northwest end of Beauty Lake and it is not for the weak-hearted.

Moose Point Lodge is a deluxe, 3-bedroom outpost cabin and has over one thousand square feet of living space, capable of comfortably accommodating large groups; minimum six guests. The outpost cabin is located high on a point with a panoramic view, on a quiet bay in the heart of Brown Bear Lake. This camp is private and remote. It has complete kitchen facilities, hot and cold running water, hot showers, and a large screened-in porch overlooking the lake. All boats are 16-foot Lunds with swivel seats and new Yamaha motors. This is an excellent camp for large groups with lots of water and excellent angling throughout the season.

GORDIE LAKE
NEW FOR 2008 - "Walleye Outpost"- only cabin on the lake
Walleye and Northern Pike

We have a new fly-in outpost lodge for the 2008 season. The lodge is called "Walleye Outpost" and is located on Gordie Lake, part of the Campfire River system. It is a fast action Walleye and Northern Pike lake with dark water, lots of structure to fish, a waterfall, rocks and weed beds. It is a flowage system. We just finished building the cabin this spring.

The lake is in two parts. The upper portion where the cabin is 2-1/2 miles long and has the river dumping into it over a small set of rapids. Across from the cabin is the outflow river that you boat down and go into the second part of the lake, which is a big heart shaped body of water with rock and weed beds and is about 2 miles across. The river continues south from this part of the lake. We are the only outfitter on this system and it is the only cabin on the lake. The average Walleye is 1 to 2 lbs with larger ones caught in the 5 lb. range and Northern Pike are 24 to 30 inch average with 40 inch fish caught. The lake has not been used as an outpost in over 15 years. We have fished it on occasion as a boat cache lake and then last summer while the contractors were building the cabin they fished in the evenings with good success and good numbers. We feel it is going to be one of our better walleye lakes because of the Campfire river system that runs through it.

The lodge is a five star cabin with two bedrooms that sleep six. The living room/dining room is open concept with a woodstove and futon in the living area. Large bright kitchen has propane stove, refrigerator, hot and cold running water and solar lights. All cooking utensils are provided. There is a bathroom with shower and sink. There is a backup generator for lights. A large screened in porch out front facing the lake as well as a deck to spend some time relaxing when not on the lake. We have a propane barbeque and fish cooker located outside for you to use. There is a fish cleaning table by the lake.

All new boats and motors for this season. We are using 14' boats with 6 hp Yamaha motors. The boats have raised swivel seats, landing nets, paddles, life jackets and bait buckets.

All our fly-in outpost lakes have been catch-and-release since 1990, and sport fishing continues to be excellent.

Satellite phones are available to our guests for use in emergencies, and as a further courtesy, we fly in to check up on any needs that you may have. We also provide drinking water and block ice free of charge.
